“Dreams don’t just come true; you’ve got to put wings on them and see where they take you.” – Dolly Parton. Dolly is full of the inspirational quotes; her quotes are positive, but they all have an underlying message. A message that she says, without saying it.
To me, her underlying message here is, you must change, to chase your dream. If you are putting your wings on, then that means you are CHANGING. If you are not ready to change, then you are not ready to chase your dream. Some guy named Issac Newton came up with Newton’s law of motion (ever heard of it?), objects in motion stay in motion, objects at rest stay at rest.
Keys to Success: Change
The ability to adapt and change is often considered a key factor in achieving success. It allows individuals to respond to new challenges, opportunities and changing circumstances in order to achieve their goals. What inspires us to change?
4 Pivotal Moments People Change
I have found that there are 4 pivotal moments that people change. These might not be one moment in time, but a series of moments that left that individual unhappy in their state. This is when inspiration to change takes hold.
- Hurt enough they must.
- Apply this to your job, for example. Maybe you know your value and it was not acknowledged at after a huge presentation. That fire you feel from not receiving that praise, is a moment of hurt and a moment that you can change!
- See enough you inspired to
- Perhaps you have seen a problem happening over and over again and nobody else is providing a solution to that problem. This is the moment that should inspire change.
- Learn enough that you want to
- Are you reading articles, taking courses, and watching YouTube videos so much so you feel like you can teach others what you have learned? This is a huge value add to your client. You have done the research and spent the money. Take everything you have learned, create your own message, and educate your client.
- Receive enough that you can
- Maybe you have been lucky enough to be in a position that you have what you need, but you want something completely different. You are in a comfortable financial position, so you can quit your job and go all in on your Entrepreneural journey (we can’t all be this lucky, myself included).
Change Is Positive
Change is uncomfortable for most people, but it is required in order to move forward with your dream! Strap on those wings, and fly high, shooting for the moon and the stars and beyond!
